WPS Years 1 & 2 have had a busy week
BackYear 1 & 2 have had another busy week this week. In literacy, we have started to write our fantastic instructions on how to catch the witch. We are applying all of our understanding on time connectives, questions and imperative verbs within this piece of work. In maths, Year 1's have been securing their understanding to count backwards from 20; they took part in lots of practical activities to help this. Year 2's have been starting to look at column subtraction and have been really challenging themselves with this; they also had to use deans blocks to exchange for subtraction.
Also, this week, we have written our own 'Where Teachers Keep Their Pets' poem - we created some fantastic and entertaining lines for this. In science, we went on a lovely Autumn walk around the school grounds; we were hunting for the signs of Autumn and created a poster on the items we found.
In music, the children chose appropriate instruments and created sounds that they thought would be suitable for different scenes of the 'Elves and the Shoemaker' story. They came up with some brilliant ideas to create the sounds.
