We are delighted to announce that we have achieved the Unicef Rights Respecting School Bronze Award, which means we have shown evidence of being 'Rights Committed', the first stage to becoming a 'Rights Respecting School'. The process we undertook to apply for and accomplish this, provided us with an insight into the considerable number of activities and strategies we already undertake at the school, to promote the rights of the child.  We have written our action plan and look forward to getting started on this after the half-term.  Our first step towards silver, will be to meet with our 'Article 12 Squad' ,previously pupil school councillors, to begin to write class charters linked to the rights as outlined in the Convention on the Rights of the Child.  We will then begin to look more closely into the work of the leading children's charity- UNICEF

A little-known fact about UNICEF is that they work in 190 countries across the globe, not just those classed as Third World. Lots of people who think about UNICEF picture them working in Africa to provide education and clean water to children who are at risk of contracting disease, however, UNICEF is, and does, so much more! They work tirelessly across the world to ensure children’s rights are upheld. we are looking forward to the children being able to tell you about the amazing work of this charity.
