This term our topic is BOOKFLIX. We will be looking at a range of exciting books over the term. We are starting with 'You Choose'.
We are so happy to be back and so proud of how the children have settled and how they are already so confident. It has been so lovley to see some familiar faces at our door and also to see new faces of which we are trying so hard to recognise!
We know, as parents ourselves, that this start of term has been a strange time for parents and children. Please try not to worry. If you do need to speak to us please email the office and they will pass your email on. We will contact you as soon as we can.
The children are doing amazingly following the new rules in school. They are getting used to washing their hands numerous times thoroughout the day and even wipe their tables before eating (which they love doing). Owls practise their beautiful table manners when eating lunch all together in the classroom. Well done Owls, you make us so proud x
Reminders and Information
Please send your child to school with a clean water bottle each day.
Woodlands and PE: Wednesday is our Woodland and PE day.
Reading: Reading is a huge part of every day in Year 1 and 2. In class, the children will have lots of opportunities to read but the children need to read at home too. Books be changed on a weekly basis. Remember to give lots of praise and encouragement as this will keep the children engaged.
Weekly Spellings- The children now have a small blue spelling book in their bookbag. On a Friday a new list of spellings will be stuck in ready to practise over the weekend. The spellings are based on sounds that are covered in Phonics so finding other words with the same sounds will help your children to become more familiar with the sound. Please make sure the spelling book is always in their bag on a Friday.
Tricky Words- The children have a large list of tricky words which need to be covered. We are doing half termly tests in school to assess the children. So this half term learn set 1 and the test will be in the last week before Oct Half Term. It is great practise to put the words into sentences as this is where the children sometimes find spelling most tricky.
