Welcome summer background vector

I am looking forward to starting our new, interesting topic and continuing to work hard throughout this term.

Our topic this summer is 'Wonder', based on the book by R. J. Palacio.

Wonder book

During this topic, we will be looking at equality and discrimination; exploring the lives and impacts of many influential people throughout history, who have been affected by this. We will be using this topic as an opportunity to have in-depth discussions and debates around this area.

Another focus throughout this topic is mental health and how things can impact this. We will be looking at what we can do to improve our mental health and make us happy.

We also have lots of opportunities to work on our writing skills within this topic; character descriptions, speeches and biographical writing are a few we will be looking at.

Our own creative flare will be developed throughout this term too, as we will be working on our sketching techniques of facial features; our musical understanding and ability; and our design and technology skills.

Have a look at the topic web attached, to see what we will be covering over this topic in more detail.

Well done to all those children who took part in our ‘Speak Out, Stay Safe’ competition during  spring term.  We received an astonishing 42 fantastic entres.  Mrs Sweeney and Mrs Byrne had a really tricky job choosijg the best entry, but after much deliberation, the winner was picked!

Well done to Mia McCabe from Swans class for her brilliant leaflet.

Both Mrs Sweeney and Mrs Byrne felt that Mia's entry showed all three of the key elements really clearly and included some beautiful presentation.  Mia was presented with the crocheted polar bear as the winning prize!

Winner Mia McCabe

A polar bear word art has been prepared for every other entry. These can be collected from your class teacher when we return to school.
