Homework Expectations

The children in Waterbirds will be given their homework every Friday and it is to be handed in on the following Wednesday.

Maths - A maths worksheet will be set each week. The children are also expected to spend time on TT Rock stars. We have a class leader board for TT Rock Stars where your child can earn class rewards. We also run a Waterbirds TT Rock Stars competition each week.

Literacy - A SPAG worksheet will be given each week

Reading - Children are expected to read at least 4 times a week and record this in their planner. Some children also have access to Reading Eggs. This can be logged in their planner for their weekly reading. It would be great to see a mixture of parent/guardian comments as well as children’s comments in their planner. Planners are collected each week and checked by the teacher.

Spelling - Children will have a weekly set of spellings and this can be accessed through Spelling Shed. The children are expected to complete 10 games on Spelling Shed each week.  You have been sent your child's login via email. Spellings will then be tested in school on a Friday. The children are also tested on their step tricky words throughout the year. A copy of the ones they need to practise can be found in their planner or homework book.

Creative homework tasks

Your child willl also have a sheet in their homework book which details some creative things they could also complete at home. These will be linked to the topics they are covering in school. We would love you to send some pictures of these completed tasks so that we can add them to our class page and share them with the rest of the school.

The table is attached to the bottom of this page if you can't find it in their book.
